The sun is about to set, the trail ahead illuminated by the red sunlight.

You conquered the mountain. Now, the time has come to enjoy the reward – every pedal push catapults you further down the trail. Your bike eats the bumps and irons them smooth as velvet.

Seconds become eternities, letting you take in every little detail: your shadow cutting through the forest around you. The suspension doing its job without asking for your input. The steel spring shock that hasn’t been set in ages, but still doesn’t gasp for air.

The geometry of the frame, which you have never really been interested in, but whose blend of experience and development meets your expectation perfectly. You feel your wheels glide over the forest ground, whirling up pine needles hitting your legs like pin pricks. As you soar down towards the valley in this rush of speed, nothing else really matters anymore.

Getting on the bike, you already knew that this machine was forged just for you.

Engineers and developers put tremendous thought into it, so you don’t have to anymore. An interactive system without compromise, well thought-out and created in the heart of Europe. You are looking for something reliable at a time where everyone trumps each other in new superlatives. You don’t need carbon. No electronics, no hot air and no status symbols.

No frills, no bells and whistles, no blah-blah. Isn’t it just what you have been looking for for so long?

You don’t have to look any further: the new SL AMR X Aluminum is what you have been waiting for. The Bavarian manufacturer made it neither artificial nor over the top: The reincarnation of the model, launched in 2016, now wears a metal coat.

With this product orientation in mind, we at GHOST Bikes examined every single aspect: Starting with the contemporary geometry, long and flat, to easily adjustable suspension elements like steel coil spring shocks and, last but not least, the tires, grips and seat. You’d rather do without the air suspension shocks, saving a mere fraction in weight, in order to have more room in terms of performance, simplicity and reliability, sums up the tenor of the manufacturer’s basic approach.

With the new frame, we created true added value. It is stiffer - in the rear alone by 30%. This means less shear force on the bearings. They were optimized, and the ones in the new damper rocker are now secured with retaining rings (Seeger rings). No other manufacturer puts that much thought into this as we did here.”, says R&D engineer Ronny Seifert.

Kai Christian, Developer in the same department, was also involved in the project. “Our AMR rocker is also completely newly designed. The form and material calculation of the rocker is a major contributor to the stiffness of the rear triangle. Even though the work behind the scenes was very complex, the result is simple: A better product the end customer doesn’t have to worry about.” This sums it up perfectly.
