World E-Bike Series in Monaco
On the third weekend of May, the time had finally come! Our GHOST Athlete Jeroen van Eck kicks off his second season in World E-Bike Series.
The WES started the 2023 racing season in Monaco, more precisely in the Alpes-Maritimes département in southeastern France on the border with Italy.
The traditional season opener in Breil-sur-Roya has been completely revamped and features two completely new race tracks.
Due to bad weather conditions, the race had to be shortened from seven to only five laps. The race track had become very muddy and technically demanding due to previous rain during the night.
Results
In the first race on Saturday Jeroen got off to a great start. With good pace and some tough racing he ended up on 6. place.
After a rainy night, the athletes knew it was going to be a strenuous racing day. Race control decided to shorten the race by two laps due to the muddy race track.
Jeroen however was fully focused and had no trouble dealing with the challenging trails. He finished just outside the podium in P4, resulting in his best placement thus far.
In the overall standings, the GHOST athlete is therefore in 5th place.
Outlook
Racing continues in just under three weeks on June 10 & 11 in Bologna, Italy.
The municipality of Monghidoro, in the Bologna-Modena tourist area, once again reaffirms its commitment to e-mountain biking as a sustainable sport and an ideal tourism model for exploring its impressive mountain range.
