UCI World Cup Debut

Mairipora has been a mountainbike event location since 2019, but the 2024 season will be the debut for UCI World Cups!

Athletes from around the globe raced the Short Track on Saturday followed by the longer Cross-Country Race on Sunday.

Mairipora's course is made for close racing and fast overtaking maeuvers making it the perfect spot for the opening weekend.

Race Results

XCC

The XCC Course is just about 1km long and has an elevation gain of 47m. "Go- time" for the Women-elite was at noon making it a really hot and dusty race. Anne Terpstra and Nicole Koller, our golden Team from the Cape Epic came in as 16th and 17th. Caroline Bohé finished on place 22 and Isla Short as 38th.

XCO

The XCO Course on Sunday covered a distance of 4,46km with an elevation of 231m. The Women-Elite started at 12:15. In the end Anne Terpstra finished 15th, followed by Caroline Bohé on place 17. Nicole came into the finish area as 25th while Isla completed the race on place 32.

What's next?

The second World Cup of the season will also take place in Brazil. The location will be Araxá which is further north. The XCC will be held on Saturday, the XCO on Sunday. Make sure to tune in and cheer for the Ghost Factory Racing Team!
